Any blahs you may have been feeling evaporated the minute you hit the city and dropped off your bags. Now you’re ready to ease into your getaway with a meal and a drink. Head over to the Old Brass Rail where the hip atmosphere and friendly staff will put you in a vacation state of mind.

Start the day off at the Restigouche Regional Museum. You’ll learn about the history of the area, the lives of the early settlers, the city’s first railway, as well as the industrial and geological story of the Restigouche. Follow that up with a visit to the Restigouche Gallery where themes of fine art, natural sciences, history, and technology are explored by local, regional, national, and international artists. When you’re done, why not check out the downtown stores and for a little shopping.
It’s time to play in the snow, which means it’s time to head to Sugarloaf Provincial Park. In addition to great downhill skiing and snowboarding, the park has fantastic cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. You can also check out the Charlo Aventuriers Outdoor Centre where you can explore 12 km (7.5 mi.) of snowshoe trails and 27 km (17 mi.) of cross-country ski trails, including 5 km (3 mi.) that are illuminated for night skiing.
When was the last time you lingered over a nice dinner then went to a movie? Well, it’s a classic for a reason, so head over to Brasserie 1026 Bar & Grill and enjoy a tasty meal in their modern atmosphere, or try out Café Chez Wes’ famous poutines and hearty platters and homemade desserts. Then settle in for a date with the silver screen at the North Shore Cinema.

If the kids woke up with energy to burn, take them to the Memorial Regional Civic Centre, one of the most complete recreational and convention facilities in Atlantic Canada. Go swimming in the semi-Olympic size pool that has a water slide and kid pool. If skating’s more your thing, hit the ice of the two Olympic ice surfaces, or just kick back to watch the city’s Junior A hockey team, the Campbellton Tigers, in action.
As part of the Northern Odyssey’s epic 1500 km (930 mi.) snowmobile loop, this is one spot you won’t forget snowmobiling. Explore the trails of Sugarloaf Provincial Park, enjoy breathtaking views from Squaw Cap Mountain, and stop along the way to warm up and fuel your sled. When it’s time for a break, park your sled for the night, and stop in at Savoie’s Brewhouse to sample some local brews.
Who doesn’t look good in bowling shoes, right? See how many strikes you can rack up at the Campbellton Lions Bowling Center. If you like a little more strategy (and ice), the Campbellton Curling Club will have you yelling “hurry hard” with the best of ‘em. Then, when the night is coming to an end, cap it off with a drink at Taps Bar and raise a glass to a great winter escape!
